National
Park Service
The National Park Service will plan and administer
the interpretive and educational programs of the
Rosie the Riveter World War II Home Front National
Historical Park.
City
of Richmond
The City of Richmond owns a large portion of the
former shipyard locations. With the exception of
Shipyard 3, these waterfront sites have been converted
to public parks and esplanades that will include
interpretive exhibits, including the Rosie the Riveter
Memorial. In a partnership between the City of Richmond and Orton Development, Inc., the former
Ford Assembly Building will be rehabilitated for
residential and commercial use and will house the
Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National
Historical Park Visitor Center. The principal role
of the City of Richmond will be to maintain these
public places.
Richmond
Museum Association
The Richmond Museum Association is a non-profit
corporation that operates the Richmond Museum of
History in a partnership with the City of Richmond.
The City of Richmond owns and maintains the building
where the Richmond Museum of History is located
and provides a part-time curator for the Museum.
The Richmond Museum Association pays for insurance
on the building and collection and provides volunteers
for various operational responsibilities. In addition,
the Richmond Museum Association acquired title to
the Red Oak Victory and is engaged in fund-raising
and restoration activities while seeking funding
for a major restoration.
